Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 9, 2026
Nova Bible ("Nova", "we") is a Bible reading app for iOS and the website novabible.app. This policy describes what data we collect, why, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect the minimum needed to run the app, we don't show ads, and we never sell your data.
Data we collect in the app
- Account information. When you first open Nova we create an anonymous account so your data can sync. If you create an account with email, Google, or Apple, we store your email address and account identifiers through Firebase Authentication.
- Your content. Highlights and notes you create are stored in Cloud Firestore, tied to your account, so they sync across your devices.
- App configuration. The app fetches remote configuration through Firebase Remote Config, which involves standard device identifiers and metadata.
- iCloud. A single flag noting whether you've signed in before is kept in your private iCloud key-value storage, so a new device can show the right sign-in screen. We can't read it.
Data we collect on the website
- Analytics. We use PostHog to understand how the site is used (pages visited, approximate location, device type).
- Waitlist. If you join the waitlist we store your email address to contact you about Nova's availability.
What we don't do
- No advertising, and no ad tracking.
- We never sell or rent your personal data.
- We only share data with the service providers that run Nova: Google Firebase (authentication, database, configuration), API.Bible (Scripture content delivery), Apple (sign-in and iCloud), PostHog (website analytics), Vercel (website hosting), and Resend and Upstash (waitlist emails).
Data retention and deletion
Your highlights and notes are kept until you delete them or delete your account. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data inside the app at Menu → Account → Delete account. You can also email us at support@novabible.app and we'll delete it for you.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR and Brazil's LGPD), you have the right to access, correct, export, and erase your personal data. Write to us and we'll help.
Children
Nova is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from them.
Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored with Google Firebase, which maintains industry-standard security certifications. Access to your content is restricted to your account.
Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes we'll update this page and the effective date above.
